Shakur Stevenson vs. Robson Conceicao (Main Event) Preview

Unified Junior lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson makes his hometown return against top contender Robson Conceição on Friday, Sept. 23, at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., Stevenson’s hometown. The Two division champion will be putting his WBO and WBC and Ring junior Light-Weight Titles on the line for the first time since unifying the belts in April against Oscar Valdez.

Stevenson (18-0, 9 KOs) is coming into this fight on the back of his best career performance against Valdez in April, adding the WBC world title to his already acquired WBO World title. Before then Stevenson, who was already a featherweight world champion moved up in weight and knocked out the then reigning champion Jamel Herring to become a two division champion.

Conceição (17-1, 8 KOs) has already made history as the first Brazilian to Win an Olympic Gold medalist and has complimented that with a good record since turning Pro. The only blemish on his record is a points loss to Victor Valdez in September. He will be working into the biggest fight of his professional career, when he meets the tactical and skillful Stevenson.
