Gregory Rodrigues pulled off a stunning performance on Saturday Night, pulling off a comeback to eventually finish off Chidi Njokuani in the second round of their middleweight bout in the main card of UFC Fight Night 210 at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas.
A knee to the head, opened up a bad cut on Rodrigues head but he still didn’t give up, throwing everything at Njokuani and when things seemed to be getting out of hand, Rodrigues shot for a takedown and unloaded on him a flurry of punches till the stoppage.
The time of the stoppage was exactly 1:27 of the second round with Rodrigues taking the TKO victory.
Njokuani started quick, landing a huge knee on Rodrigues to open up a bad cut on the Brazilians forehead, blood streamed down and Njokuani looked to capitalise on the damage but Rodrigues recovered gradually while cleaning off the blood streaming down his face from the cut.
Rodrigues was looked to be heading towards a possible Doctor’s stoppage but as things seemed hopeless, the relentless Brazilian unloaded a big shot that dropped the Nigerian to the canvas. He jumped in with a flurry but Njokuani was returning as well.
The Cut-Man was called in to check on the cut between rounds and a go ahead was given by the ringside physician to continue, only a warning to stop the fight once things get worst.
Rodrigues heard that and didn’t allow things to get to that point. He went straight at Njokuani with everything and then scored a takedown, complimenting that with a flurry that eventually forced the referee to stop the fight.
Rodrigues has now picked up his second consecutive win in the UFC and his UFC record improves to 4-1.
