Khamzat Chimaev made little work of Kelvin Holland in the Co-Main event of UFC 279 on Saturday Night, impressively ending the fight in just over two minutes with a D’Arce Choke at the T-Mobile Arena. Live on Pay-Per-View.
The fight which was scheduled during the Weigh-In, 24 hours to fight night did not make the fight competitive for Chimaev, who fought a middleweight instead of the welterweight fight, he initially prepared to fight. Chimaev embraced the villain persona, unapologetic for his actions after the event and kept to his word in the Octagon on fight night.
Fought at 180 pound Catch-Weight, Chimaev impressively controlled Holland immediately after scoring the takedown, though struggling a bit to keep Holland down and once the latter was in his preferred position, he went straight for the choke eventually forcing the tap.
“Borz” was not apologetic or remorseful for his actions over the 24 hours and for that attracted boos from the crowd after making those statements in his post fight speech.
Nate Diaz instead faced Tony Ferguson in the Main Event and after four rounds won the fight, which is the final fight on his contract with a submission in the fourth round. This directly means, Chimaev might not get a chance to face Diaz in the future.
