Joseph Parker Promises To Hand Joe Joyce His First Pro Defeat
Joseph Parker is looking to make a quick work of Joe Joyce and seems very confident of handing Englishman the first defeat of his professional career when. They meet at the AO Arena in Manchester.
The Former WBO Heavyweight champion will be travelling to Manchester for the third consecutive time and is booked an underdog against unbeaten knockout artist Joe Joyce (14-0, 13KOs). The two will collide with the Interim WBO Heavyweight Title.
“I’m gonna be the first to beat him, give him his first loss,” vowed Parker at the end of training camp in Morecambe, England. “It’s okay, he can come back from that and I’ll beat him again in December.”
Parker comes into the fight in the back of a two victories over top contender Dereck Chisora, all signalling progress made since bringing in Former WBO Middleweight Champion Andy Lee as Trainer. This is exactly a year and six months since their union and his camp also includes Lineal/ WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury ( 32-0-1).
Parker has gradually dropped in rankings and has lost a couple of fights at the top level but definitely presents a stiff test for Joyce. He will be the second former would champion to face Joyce but still very much closer to his prime than Former WBC champ Bernabe Stiverne, who was subjected to a knockout loss in 2019.
Joyce has a 93 percent knockout rate, knocking out all his opponents except former title challenger Bryant Jennings in 2019. Joyce has won four fights since which includes his knockout victory over British rival Daniel Dobois in November 2020.
