Bellator 277 Results – Linton Vassell Comes back, Stops Tim Johnson In One Round
Linton Vassell staged an unimaginable comeback to stop Tim Johnson in the Main card opener of Bellator 277 on Friday night at the SAP Centre San Jose California.
Linton Vassell (22-8 MMA, 11-5 BMMA) was totally dominated from start and was easily roles and put in trouble by Johnson (15-9 MMA, 3-5 BMMA) but surprisingly turned the tides towards the last minute first round, taking his opportunities before finishing Johnson with a ground and pound at exactly 4:21 of round 1.

Johnson rocked Vassell early, giving him no breathing space as he soffocated the Brit with powerful punches, forcing the latter to shoot for a takedown but that still didn’t work to his favour. Johnson was sharp and easily imposed his size on Johnson, while swing round to land punches on Vassell, who was then looking vulnerable.
Vassell somehow got back to his feet but was not fully recovered from the first onslaught from Johnson but still Johnson found a way to send Johnson back to the canvas, running through him like a bull. Johnson went in for the ground and pound. The referee kept a close eye on the proceedings and deemed them less critical to intervene.
Vassell found an opening, grabbed Johnson’s leg, reversed his position and took his back. From there Vassell administered a ground and pound on Johnson, who tried to escape but failed. Blood started streaming from Johnson face as he took Vassell’s punches before the referee stepped in to end the fight.
