Aaron Pico was totally outstanding from the opening bell, totally dominating his short notice opponent Adli Edwards en route to a third round TKO victory on the main card of Bellator 277 on Friday night at SAP Centre San Jose California.
Pico (10-3 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) started the fight with some striking excellence, mixing things up as he walked Edwards, who covered up as he couldn’t control the incoming. With that, Pico elected to go for a takedown and punished Edwards on the canvas but the latter was able to escape back to his feet, where Pico punished him again with body shots.
Edwards was visibly tough as he showed no sign of damage till the final sequence, when Pico connected an over – right hand, following that with a left hook that sent Edwards crumbling to the Canvas. Pico rushed in for the finish before the referee number in to save him.
Pico is now on a six fight winning streak, which is his longest since joining the Bellator Roster. On his current streak are victories Justin Gonzales, Aiden Lee, John De Jesus, Solo Hatley Jr., and Daniel Carey. Pico’s experience in MMA started out rough and only picked up impressively after a 4 – 3 record.
Pico was first slated to face Jeremy Kennedy at Bellator 277 but things went south, two weeks to the event. Kennedy pulled out due to an injury, giving room for Edwards .
Edwards was on a seven fight winning streak before the loss and was last seen 13 days ago beating up an Overweight Josh Harvey at XMMA 4.
