Eagle FC 44 Results – Sergei Kharitonov Batters Tyrone Spong For Second Round TKO
Sergei Kharitinov was very straight forward with his plan, mauling Tyrone Spong until a stoppage was achieved in the second round of the Eagle 44 main event, which took place on Friday night.
The former Pride and Bellator Fighter was quick to take the fight to the ground and there displayed dominance till the bell was heard. Then continued with the same in the second round. After securing full control over Spong, Kharitonov pounded Sponge with punches till the referee had no choice but to stop the fight .
“My game plan, yes, I respect his striking, he’s a high-level striker and my game plan was to get minimal damage,” Kharitonov said following his win. “I fought a lot and I have so much respect for Tyrone. He’s a great fighter.
“I want to give huge thanks to [Eagle FC owner] Khabib [Nurmagomedov] for this opportunity. I want to continue to fight for Eagle FC and fight for the belt.”
Sponge started well, stinging Kharitonov with his kicks and started looking a bit too comfortable with it before the Russian rushed in and scored a takedown, taking full mount and with the weight difference, there wasn’t much Spong could do than survive till the end of the round.
Spong looked to stay out of Kharitonov’s range in the second round and connected punches from range, the Russian charged forward and scores another takedown, Jumping on full mount and pounded Spong with a barrage of punches till the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
With the win, Kharitonov goes 4-1 in his last five outings and still remains a dominat force in the Heavyweight division despite being 41 years of Age.
