UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou is very impressed by Jake Paul’s growth and improvements following the sixth round knockout victory over Tyron Woodley last weekend.
Paul was able to retain his unbeaten record with a blistering right hand that knocked Tyron Woodley in the sixth round of their rematch at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
The YouTube content creator has diverted his attention to Boxing and has even created a promotion. His first meeting with Woodley, ended a split decision in his favour and many argued and believed Woodley will ended the rematch definitively but it was Paul who emerged victorious, sending Woodley headfirst to the canvas.
“Honestly, I was impressed by Jake Paul,” Ngannou told TMZ. “I didn’t see that coming. I was sure that Tyron Woodley was going to win this fight, you know? But you’ve got to give it to Jake Paul. He made a statement, a huge statement and he proved his money is where his mouth is. He’s taking himself very seriously. … You better take him seriously because he proved it.”
Ngannou is preparing for the last fight on his UFC contract, a tough battle between former teammate and current interim champ Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270 on January 22nd. The UFC heavyweight champion could switch to boxing, ones his free agency is confirmed as he has always teased. However, he doesn’t have the intentions of facing the likes of Jake Paul or anyone less grounded in Boxing.
“No, that’s not the same thing,” Ngannou said. “It’s not the same generation. Even if I go out there for boxing, it’s not to box Jake Paul. As good as he might be, he’s not my level. He’s not my weight class, first of all. I might have 80-100 pounds over him. It’s not the same thing. He doesn’t want this smoke.”
