Demetrius Andrade Brutally KOs Jason Quigley In Two Rounds
Demetrius Andrade needed just two rounds to finish off Jason Quigley, dropping him thrice en route to a second round knockout in the main event of a DAZN fight card on Friday night at the SNHU Arena in Manchester.
The reigning WBO middleweight champion Andrade made a promise before the start of the fight to make a difficult battle for Quigley and from the result he sure definitely did, sending the contender to the canvas in the opening round and dropping him twice again in the second round, with the third knockdown being the knockout at exactly 2:21 of the second round.
The first round started with an initial feeling out period, where both fighters struggled to figure their range. After the first minute, Andrade went at Quigley with a flurry, Quigley was able to make him miss a handful of those shots before firing back with a straight right hand to the body.
Andrade connected a right hand, in the middle of the round and that stunned Quigley, he followed it up with another right to the temple. The result saw Quigley scrambling to the canvas for the first Knockdown. Andrade followed up on Quigley, who was able to beat the referee’s count and either the storm from the blood thirsty Andrade.
Quigley was sent to the canvas again very early in the second round but unfortunately for Andrade, it was ruled a slip by the referee Arthur Mercante Jr. Andrade scored another knockdown with another big right forcing Quigley to take a knee, midway through the second round. Quigley was able to convince the referee he was able to continue and Andrade with blood in his eyes was ready to convincingly end the fight.
In a little less than a minute, Quigley got cornered by Andrade and the preceding flurry sent Quigley to the canvas, convincing the referee to stop the fight immediately.
Andrade 31-0, 19KOs with the win, defended his WBO middleweight title for the fifth time since winning the title three years ago.
