Khan and Brook will now share the ring on February 19th at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. The two rivals will look to settle their beef in the long anticipated grudge match, Live on SkySports Box-Office.

The time expression by the head of SkySports Boxing could be a little bit more but really portrays the time from speculation as both fighters were in their primes and maybe world champions when the speculations began.

“Khan and Brook have been asked about this fight for a decade, despite their success as world champions,” Adam Smith, Head of Boxing at Sky Sports stated during the official announcement presser. “Now we get the answer in Manchester on February 19.”

The Khan – Broke grudge fight narrowly escaped being missed along with the grudge fights that never got settled. The two had being champions and competed in the weight class for most of the period but never came to an agreement for a fight and always walked different parts.

However, Khan – Brook would have had a bigger payday and drawn more crowds, if this fight was staged say seven or eight years ago. Khan was at that time a WBC/WBA unified champion and on of the best fighters at Junior Welterweight division. Brook also held the title from 2014 to 2017.

“You know how long this has been going on,” noted Brook, who turned 35 in May. “Me and him, 17 years this has been talked about. Even in negotiations, it’s been unbelievable hard work. Finally got it across the line. I’m ecstatic that the fans are going to see the fight they’ve been wanting to see years.

“He’s always run away. It’s come to this part of his career. He’s got to fight. There’s nowhere else for him to run. This is the biggest fight out there for him, the biggest money fight. This is what he gets. This is when he wants it now.”

Both fighters have been relatively inactive since their stoppage losses in their biggest fights. Khan jumped high to 155 pounds against Canelo Alvarez and got knocked out in the 6th round of the catchweight fight. Brook on the other hand, moved up two divisions to face Gennady Golovkin and got stopped in the fifth round.

Both fighters have had their share of ups and downs, having failed to score a notable victory in the last four years. Khan has fought just thrice in the last 4 years. However, despite their inactivity have just one thing in common. Each have a stoppage in their WBO Welterweight title fights against Pound For Pound fighter Terence Crawford.

“Never ran from Kell, never needed to,” insisted Khan, who turns 35 in December. “Obviously, what I’ve achieved in this sport speaks for itself. We’re here now. There’s no point crying about the past. There was a time in the past I didn’t think he deserved the fight.

“Now it’s come to a stage where I want to give him a good shot in the face and put him in his place. That’s what it’s all about, end of day. All that talk is being given. Come February 19, we’re going to see what he’s gonna do, if he can back them words up.”
