Jim Miller keeps making his case as one of the all time greats with another KO victory over Erick Gonzalez at UFC Vegas 40 ( UFC Fight Night 196) on Saturday at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas.
Miller (33-16 MMA, 22-15 UFC) was placed in the position of welcoming Gonzalez (14-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to the promotion in what remains the biggest experience disadvantage in History. However, that ended up the difference in the match up which ended a second round knockout victory for the veteran.
Gonzalez came out firing the opening round and was able to gain top position, peppering Miller with a couple of good punches which Miller took and showed some good conditioning doing so. Miller was able to slow down the fight by tying up Gonzalez and eventually cooled down the debutant.

Miller was rejuvenated in the second round and that was evident in his first exchange with Gonzalez. The veteran connected a big right hand that sent Gonzalez to the canvas at exactly 0:14 of the second round, promting the referee to step in and stop the fight.
The win became his 22nd victory in the UFC and takes him second behind Donald Cerone with the most wins in the UFC (24). Miller expressed his happiness in the post fight interview.
“Old dog, new tricks,” Miller said in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “Got the KO.”
