Jim Miller continues to cement his stance as one of the greatest of all time with another KO win over Erick Gonzalez at UFC Vegas 40 (UFC Fight Night 196) on Saturday at the UFC Apex Facility in Las Vegas.
Miller was rejuvenated in round two and that was evident in his first trade with Gonzalez. The veteran player hooked a large right hand that sent Gonzalez onto the frame at exactly 0:14 of the second half, causing the referee to intervene and stop the match.
This win became his 22nd UFC win and places him second behind Donald Cerone with the most UFC wins (24). Miller expressed his happiness in the post-war interview.
Miller (3316 MMA, 2215 UFC) was put in position to welcome Gonzalez (146 MMA, 01 UFC) for promotion in what remains the biggest drawdown in history. However, that put an end to the difference in the match that ended in a second-round knockout win for the veteran.
“Old dog, new stuff,” Miller said in a post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “I have KO.”
Gonzalez came out on the first round and was able to earn first place, providing Miller with some good shots that Miller made while showing good fitness. Miller managed to slow down the fight by tying up Gonzalez and eventually cooling the rookie down.
