Hernandez attacked the his short notice replacement Breeden from the opening bell, giving him no room to breath. Hernandez quickly ran towards Breeden and connected a two punch combination that broke through his defence and wobbling Breeden and forcing him backward.
Hernandez quickly went in again and connected another hook to Breeden’s head and that was all as the latter, collapsed straight to the canvas and prompted that referee to jump in and stop the fight at exactly 1:20 of the first round.
“I saw he was hurt,” Hernandez said about the finish. “I think the first takedown attempt, I kind of half-committed to it but I knew I hurt him on the break regardless. Hit him with an elbow on the break and that led to the downfall.”
The Bookie had Hernandez as one of the biggest favourites heading into the fight and his performance lived up to the expectation. Hernandez was quick to take his focus back to his initial opponent Leonardo Santos, who pulled out of the UFC Fight Night 193 fight due to Injury.
Hernandez is 3 -3 in his last six outings, he was last seen seen losing a decision to Thiago Moise.
