Shakur Stevenson Breaks Down Jamel Herring, Stops Him In The 10th Round
Shakur Stevenson became a two division champion with a 10th round stoppage victory over WBO Super Featherweight champion Jamel Herring on Saturday night, October 23rd at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Stevenson retained his unbeaten record with the win while ripping away the WBO world title from Herring, moving his record to 17-0. Stevenson gradually broke down Herring, picking him apart and walked him down till the referee couldn’t watch no more and stepped in to stop the fight.
Stevenson won the biggest fight of his career after opening cuts on Herrings above Herring’s two eyes. The referee Mark Nelson ended the fight at exactly 1:40 of the 10th round.
Stevenson needed a big show and spectacular performance to remind the boxing world of his capabilities after his lackluster showing against little known Namibian contender Jeremiah Nakathila, who he defeated with a unanimous decision in his last outing.
Stevenson was booked a 15 – 1 favourite To win the fight and somehow made the fight easier than the Bookmarkers had perceived as Herring never gave Stevenson a competitive showing throughout the fight. He instead found it difficult dealing with the speed and skill of the 24 year old.
Stevenson won the vacant WBO Featherweight title with a 12 round unanimous decision over Joet Gonzalez two years ago but this time had to dethrone a world champion, who is by far the biggest and most accomplished opponent to share the ring with him.
Herring defended the title thrice before making facing Stevenson and at 36 years, this could possibly start an ending sequence to Herring’s Boxing career. However, this is Herrings first loss since shocking Masayuki Ito for the 140 Pound Title
