Ricky Hatton Tips Anthony Joshua To Stop Oleksandr Usyk In Rematch

Oleksandr Usyk Defeats Anthony Joshua

Former two division champion Ricky Hatton has suggested Anthony Joshua takes the fight to Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming rematch early next year.

Usyk stunned the Boxing world last month with a spectacular performance, out-boxing the highly favoured Joshua to win the WBA WBO, IBF And IBO World Heavyweight titles in the UK.

Joshua got criticized for trying to outbox a superior Boxer in the first fight and Hatton too believes that Joshua was wrong in that decision and should use his superior size to his advantage in the rematch.

Usyk entered the first fight as a huge underdog but after his victory, has a faction thinking he will emerge victorious again in the rematch.

“My advice if AJ was listening to me now: they’ve all written you off anyway, they all think Usyk is going to win the fight even more comfortably – use that as your fuel to ram it down their throats,” Hatton told The Daily Mail.

“If they think you’re going to get beat anyway, you’ve got nothing to lose, son. F—— go and grab it by the balls.’ I’d keep the tactics dead simple: ‘[Usyk] outboxed me last time, this time I’m going to f——- bash you. At this level, it’s probably not as simple as that, but I just think there’s so much AJ’s got to offer.”

Hatton also believes that Joshua will stop Usyk in the rematch, due to his adaptability, which Hatton identified as a key ingredient in Joshua’s game.

“In the rematch, a lot of people say Usyk will do the same again, only he’ll put his foot on the gas a little bit earlier and might stop AJ. I think the opposite. You’ve got to be able to adapt, and if it’s one thing AJ has it’s that adaptability. He can box, as he proved by winning Olympic gold and regaining the heavyweight title. He can mix it up.”
