IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Mairis Breidis made little work of his Mandatory Challenger Artur Mann, needed only three rounds from the scheduled twelve rounder on October 16th at the Arena Riga in Latvia.
The Champion was quickly able to establish shelf in the opening round, controlling the opening round and Breidis sent Man to the canvas in the second round and was able to force a close to the show in the third round after dropping Mann two more times.
Breidis has always performed at his peak at against Mike Perez, Oleksandr Usyk, Krzysztof Glowacki and against Mann was no different for Breidis, who was a 50- 1 favourite to defeat Mann ahead of the event.
The 36 year old was fighting for the first time at the arena since defeating Glowacki back in 2019 to defend the title he won from Dorticos in the final of World Boxing Super Series, which catapulted him to the top spot of the Cruiserweight division.
Mann was able to pick up the WBO title, defeating Leaon Harth back in 2017bto win the title back in 2017, he was looking to unify IBO title against Kevin Lerena, when he got stopped within three rounds.
Mann got back in title contention with back to back victories which sent him into crossroads with Breidis and the loss will send him back to the drawing board.
For Breidis, his paths leads to wards a potential unification with WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okoli.
