Luke Willis picked up the biggest win of his professional career with a Majority Decision against Rylan Charlton in the undercard of Liam Smith Vs Anthony Fowler undercard on Saturday evening.
The fight which served as a final eliminator for the English lightweight title was very close and looked bad on Willis who had a good showing and had to fight off a late rally from Charlton in the Championship rounds. Willis looked impressive holding off Charlton and looked ready to follow in the footsteps of his uncle Tony, who was himself a British champion.
Willis fought on the back foot and was able to pick the forward coming Charlton apart but the latter had no caution in his quest, giving his all and had Willis holding in the final round and was even deducted a point for that. Eventually the fight went to the judges and Michael Alexander scored the fight a draw 95-95, while the remaining scored the fight for Willis – Phil Edwards and Howard Foster 95-94.
The fight was part of the main card of Liam Smith Vs Anthony Fowler, which took place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.
