Former Bellator three divisions champion Douglas Lima was subjected to a split decision loss by Michael Page in the main event of Bellator 267 on Friday night at the SSE Arena in London.
However, Lima hasn’t come to terms with the Judges decision to hand Page the split decision after 15 minutes of non stop back and forth action that saw both fighters drop and almost end the fight early. A narrow split decision with scores 28-29, 29-28, 29-28 was handed to page by the judges.
The win for Page, means he avenged his only professional loss, a second round knockout in 2019’s Bellator Welterweight Semi Final. Lima was able to score takedowns in the rematch and that kept him my h in the fight despite failing to do much with each opportunity. Page in his part was able to score clear knockdowns, dropping Lima thrice in the 15 minutes duration and was the most aggressive of the two.
Lima is however in a very unfamiliar position in his career at the moment, a three fight losing streak that includes his failed attempt to become a two division champion. Lost a unanimous decision to Middleweight Champion Gegard Mousasi and lost his welterweight title to Yaroslav Amosov and now Page.
Lima took to his Instagram page to let the MMA community know, he wasn’t in agreement with the decision to hand Page the split decision. He also added that he believe he won two out of the three rounds.
Ehhh not too sure about this decision, I thought I won 1 and 3, need to rewatch! But thank you God for bringing me here again! I’m blessed! Had a blast here in London and can’t wait to come back! Thank you my team, family, and all of you that’s always supporting! God bless you all and I’ll see you again soon
