Vadim Nemkov retained his place as the Bellator light Heavyweight Champion with a Kimora Submission Victory over Anglickas (10-2 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) in the Grand Prix Semi-Finals on Saturday night. The main Card was aired on ShowTime.
Both fighters engaged in a back and forth competitive battle with Anglickas being the first to land a brutal blow on the champion, the Russian quickly got back to his feet and scored a takedown. Anglickas was able to wrestle his way back to his feets, where both exchanged shots against before the round ended.
The two fighters came out firing in the second round, exchanging blows like in the first but that ended pretty fast, as Nemkov lifted Anglickas and dropped him in the canvas manoeuvred to mount in Half Guard then proceeded to administer a ground and pound on Anglickas, who tried his best to avoid the elbows and punches. He couldn’t, Nemkov left him Bloody Mess before the round ended.
The cut man was charged to do a nice clean up and some good sticking was done onhis face before the fight continued. The third round was really contested much on foot as Nemkov quickly took the fight to the canvas and tried a full mount but Anglickasones again pushed him to side control , fr there Nemkov tried attempted several times a armbar submission but failed including on that left Anglickas saves by the horn.
Round 4 had the same proceedings as Nemkov scored another take down, then blasted Anglickas head with a series of brutal punches. He then had Anglickas arms in a crucifix position but the latter rolled out an armbar attempt followed but that too failed before the Kimura was the administered. Anglickas tapped and the fight was over.
Nemkov has now defended the Bellator Light heavyweight title twice and with this win proceeds into the Bellator 1 Million Dollar Grand Prix Final, where he faces Corey Anderson, who scored a 51 second knockout victory over Ryan Bader in the Co -Maim Event Which also served as the second Semi Final bout of the competition.
