Anatoly Tokov emerged victorious ones again with a Split decision but was dragged into a close fight by teammate Sharaf Davlatmurodov at Bellator 268 on Saturday night In Moscow.
Tokov and Davlatmurodov were both engaged in a back and forth battle between with both getting their opportunities and landing solid strikes throughout the three rounds of the Main Card fight on Saturday.
Tokov made use of his superior ground game to control the fight on the canvas and rack up points on the Judges scorecards. Two Judges scored the fight in favour of Tokov (29-28), whole the last Judge gave the fight to 29 – 28 to Davlatmurodov giving Tokov the split decision.
“I took a two year break and I’m only going to go uphill from here,” Tokov said after the grueling win. “I promise I’m going to be a champion in this organization. I believe I deserve a title shot, although in this particular fight I wasn’t able to show everything I’m capable of.”
Davlatmurodov connected a big body shot in the early minutes of the fight and that rattled and dropped Tokov. However, Tokov was able to close the distance before both fighters began shuffling positions in the inch against the cage.
Both fighters traded toe to toe with Tokov being the favourite getting his success but Davlatmurodov, never showed fear in his engaging with his teammates and replied every sing shot Tokov sent at him. Davlatmurodov was able to open up a big cut over Tokov’s eyelid with a well placed punch whole they traded on foot.
After three round, Tokov was able to earn a split decision in the eyes of the Judges and takes another big step in his rise up the Bellator middleweight division.
