Mauricio Lara Vs Josh Warrington Rematch Preview

Josh Warrington will fight Mauricio Lara ones again with hopes of avenging his first professional loss on Sept 4th, Saturday night at the Emerald Headingley Stadium. The fight will be broadcasted live on DAZN worldwide.

Mauricio Lara was able to stop the formerly unbeaten Josh Warrington in his tracks with a sensational but brutal stoppage in their first meeting back in March at The Wembley stadium, London, UK.

The little known Lara was to be used by Warrington as a stay busy fight as he was hoping to land a fight with WBA Featherweight Champion Xu Can but things went south as Lara, dropped Warrington twice in the fifth and the seventh round respectively with the later being the eventual stoppage.

Lara laid Warrington flat and out on the canvas for a couple of minutes, while the ringside medics attended to him. He was eventually revived and helped to his feet.

Before that fight, Warrington had vacated his IBF Featherweight Title as he didn’t want a Rematch with fellow British contender Kid Galahad, whom he (Josh Warrington) had narrowly defeated with a Split Decision back in June 2019. Kid Galahad stopped Jazza Dickens in the tenth round last month to claim the vacant IBF Featherweight title.

Warrington will get a chance to rewrite all wrongs in the first fight with his Hometown crowd cheering him on.

Warrington could pretty much have the edge in this showdown but no Boxing analyst or pundit will take away the possibility of another upset victory from the heavy-handed Mexican Lara.
