Conor Benn Frustrated Against Adrian Granados, Earns Unanimous Decision

Conor Benn was frustrated with Adrian Granados in the final round for refusing to fight of their Welterweight fight in the main card of Mauricio Lara Vs Josh Warrington Rematch on Saturday night at the Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

Despite been taken the distance, Benn was able to pick up a well deserved unanimous decision victory over Granados, increasing his unbeaten record to 19-0 a she continued his steps towards a possible title shot.

Benn started the fight perfectly with a body shot and looked to establish and early dominance, a body shot connected and another eight punch to the ear prompted a complain from the Mexican. Granados was ready to trade in round two, charged forward and connected a few flight hands plus and uppercut later in the round during an exchange.

Benn was more tactical in round three, used his jab to keep Granados at bay then used head movements to get inside and that paid off later in the round as a combination rocked Granados, throwing him to the ropes but the Mexican quickly recovered, shaking off the shots. Granados charged forward again in the fourth round looking to back Benn up with a barrage of shots but was backed up by Benn, who was happy to trade.

Benn sent him to the ropes and there tagged him with some shots before Granados backed him off with some combinations. However, Been dominated the fifth round landing some good blows and never charging in carelessly and that paid off.

Granados was tiring out in the seventh round and somehow accepted his fate of losing the fight but instead of giving up, ran around the ring avoiding Benn, who also followed him around without cutting the ring off.

Granados dis well in the eight round, Granados came out and had a good round but Benn was the one to finish well, with a big right hand towards the end of the round. Granados also had a good ninth round, landed some good punches and took the round as Benn seemed to be running out of punches.

Benn was hungry for a trade in the 10th round and wanted to stand toe to to with the Mexican but the latter just avoided him and tried his best to run till the final bell.

The fight was scored by the judges in favour of Benn Steve Gray 100-90, Luigi Boscarelli 99 – 91 and Leszek Jankowiak 97-93.

Benn had a word to say about his frustrations in the fight especially the final round when he wanted to engage more.

“It was very frustrating, he was on his bike the whole fight,” Benn said. “I thought he was going to stand toe to toe but I had to hunt him down.”
