UFC On ESPN 30 Preview – Kevin Lee Vs Daniel Rodriguez

Kelvin Lee UFC

Kevin Lee will battle late replacement Daniel Rodriguez in the Co Main Event Of UFC On ESPN 30 which will be headlined by the Featherweight battle between Edson Barboza and Giga Chikadze and will take place at the UFC Apex Facility in Texas, Nevada.

The fight was initially scheduled to be between Lee and undefeated prospect Sean Bradly (14-0) but the Latter pulled out due to an injury before Daniel Rodriguez stepped to savage the show.

Lee has been away from the Octagon for more than a year and might be mostly due to the Corona Virus Pandemic that affected the whole of 2020. He was last seen in action in March 2020, when Lee tapped to now reigning UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliviera. The latter went on to defeat former Bellator champion Michael Chandler to win the Vacant UFC Lightweight title.

Lee has been able to pick up some good victories against top fighters in the UFC. This includes Michael Chiesa, Edson Barboza and then knocked out the then undefeated Gregor Gillespie. However, He has had trouble fighting Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialists especially those that are presently in their prime.

Lee lost to Charles Oliviera via a Guillotine Choke, Rafael Dis Anjos submitted him with an Arm-Triangle Choke, while Ferguson defeated him with a Triangle choke in the third round.

Daniel Rodriguez has only had a few fights in the UFC and brings with him a decent 6-1 record with his biggest win being Mike Perry. Rodriguez was last seen in action at UFC on ESPN 26, when he defeated Preston Parsons.

Lee is more experienced and has faced more top opponents than Rodriguez. He will be bringing that wealth of experience to his Welterweight debut and despite his issues with BJJ specialist, Rodriguez doesn’t not compare to anyone Lee has lost to. This means that Lee should have a very easy night in the office.

Kevin Lee has had a few issues cutting down to lightweight and stamina issues when he successfully hits 155 pounds. However, with less weight cut, Lee could retain more power and stamina in his welterweight fights.

The Bookmarkers believe that the fight between Lee and Rodriguez will be a very close fight but that might not be that case because I see Lee emerging victorious with a knockout.
