Tecia Torres defeated Angela Hill ones again with a unanimous decision in their rematch at UFC 265 on Saturday Night at the Toyota Centre in Houston. The fight was live on Pay-Per-View.
Torres (13-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC), nicknamed “The Tiny Tornado” showed Hill (13-10 MMA, 8-10 UFC) , she was levels ahead when it comes to striking and significantly out-landed her en route to a unanimous decision victory in the main card of UFC 265.
The Judges scored the fight scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 in favour of Torres, who also won their first meeting back at UFC 188 but then she achieved the victory with much grappling.
Hill started out fighting from range and looked to land some good kicks and Torres tried replying with kicks and punch combinations. Hill briefly had Torres out of balance but couldn’t make much of the situation. The two then engaged in a high output exchange as the round wore on with both women have successes.
Hill came out firing in the second round with hopes of working down Torres but failed with the majority of her plan as Torres used speed and Karate combinations to tag her from distance, still Hill kept moving forward. Hill then tried showcasing her grappling but failed to make a big difference.
Hill tries to rally a comeback and looked to land a big shot in the third round but Torres didn’t give room for such. Instead Torres avoided mistakes in her game and was able to score a takedown late in the fight, putting an authoritative stamp on the scorecards.
Torres with the win has now turn his sights towards landing a big fight in the Strawweight Division.
“I’m definitely one of the best strikers in the division,” Torres said in her post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. “Mick (Maynard), Dana (White), you guys know I want a top-five fight. I’m working my way to the top.”
