Montana Love declared his credentials with an upset seventh round technical stoppage victory over Former IBF world junior Welterweight champion Ivan Branchyk in the Main card of Jake Paul Vs Tyron Woodley Undercard on Sunday Night at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Cleveland, Ohio.

Love, who was regarded an underdog in the build up to the event, went through some early troubles and hard to withstand the hard hitting Baranchyk, before knocking him out with a left upper cut in the seventh round of their scheduled 12 round battle. Broadcasted Live on ShowTime Pay-Per-view.

Baranchyk was able to make it back to his feet, early enough before the referee Lonnie Scott was done with the counting. before action could resume, the bell was heard and Baranchyl moved straight to the corner but while sitting on his stool, his trainer Pedro Diaz stopped the fight before more damage was absorbed by the fighter.

Love retained his unbeaten record with the victory and improved that record to (16-0-1, 8KOs). Baranchyk dropped his record to (20-3, 13 KOs) and got knocked out for the second straight fight. His first knockout loss came eleven months ago by the hands of Jose Zepeda, who brawled with him in what was later recognized “Fight Of The Year”. The fight saw Zepeda drop Baranchyk four times en route to a fifth round stoppage on October 3rd at MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas.

Before his loss to Love, Baranchyk had only lost to fully unified junior welterweight champ Josh Taylor (18-0, 13 KOs) and Zepeda (34-2, 26 KOs, 2 NC) and this could mark a set back for the former champion, who was hoping to bounce back from his loss to Zepeda.

Baranchyk looked to make a quick work of Love and registered himself the aggressor early in the fight but love was quick and made the Russian miss a lot of his punches. Love was however caught with a big right hand that forced him to hold Baranchyk as the round ran to a close.

Love knocked Baranchyk into the ropes with a big left in the opening seconds of the second round and knocked him off balance again with another left towards the close of the second round. Baranchyk responded with dominance in the third round, Knocked Love into the ropes with a left in the halfway point of the third and with another combination rocked Love towards the end of the third.

Baranchyk wasn’t planning to stop the onslaught, a brutal right hook was enough to back Love up with a Left hook but Love replied with a counter punch and a flush left that rocked Baranchyk towards the end of the fourth.a left uppercut and a right hook bothered Baranchyk, early in the fifth round but he was able to recover, the blasted Love with a right hand that backed him up in the ropes.

A right hook from Love stunned Baranckyk early in the seventh round and made him maintain distance. Baranchyk then slept and fell, the referee ruled it a slip and then a left uppercut ended the round with Baranchyk scrambling to the canvas. He never made it out the corner for the eight round.
