Mark Magasayo picked up the biggest win of his career, knocking out a very determined Mexican Julio Ceja in the 10th round of their featherweight bout in Manny Pacquiao Vs Yordenis Ugas undercard on Saturday Night at the T-Mobile Arena.

Magasayo, who is managed by MP Promotions sure made the Pacquiao proud by overcoming a fifth round knockdown to eventually knockout Ceja in the tenth round with one brutal right hand, that sent the Mexican to the canvas and  while Ceja was going down Magasayo connected another right hand that left him unconscious. The referee Kenny Bayless waved off the fight immediately.

Ceja who got revived and guided out of the ring by his corner men, was ahead on all three scorecards with judges Max De Luca (86-83), Lisa Giampa (86-83) and Don Trella (87-82) at the end of the ninth round. This meant Magasayo, could only win the fight via knockout, which he did to retain his unbeaten record (23-0, 16 KOs) and maintain the route to a possible WBC world title shot.

Magasayo expressed the shock he felt after getting dropped in the fifth round of the battle and the motivation that gave him to give his all ahead of achieving his goal of earning a title shot.

“I got knocked down and was surprised,” Magsayo said. “But I focused my mind on what I wanted, a world championship shot. It’s my dream today and now it’s coming true. Hopefully my next fight is a world title shot.”

Ceja (32-5-1, 28 KOs) with the loss, is now winless in his last four bouts and has lost via knockout for the fourth time in his professional career. Ceja’s slip leaves him a 0-3-1 record in his last four, reflects little about his 12 year pro career which witnessed some good wars and earned him the WBC interim 122-pound title at one point in his career.

In those last four bouts, Ceja has faced former WBO World Champion Guillermo Rigondeaux and WBC 122-pound champ Brandon Figueroa in two bouts back to back. Rigondeaux stopped him in the eight round of that bout and was ok with a draw against the undefeated champion Figueroa in November 2019. He was out of the ring for 21 months, which could be due to the Corona Virus Pandemic in 2020.

The fight card was Headlined by the WBA welterweight world championship fight between Manny Pacquiao Vs Yordenis Ugas
