Manchester United sure welcomed the fans back to Premier League football with a 5 – 1 trashing of long time rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Everything seemed to work well for the Red Devils, who unveiled their New signing Raphael Varane before kick off and even had Jadon Sancho on the bench, featuring him very late in the match..
Manchester United quickly bust into action early in the game and Leeds with lots of worries early as they bombarded the Leeds defence with chances with Pogba losing the best from close range.
Pogba was able to correct his errors with a well timed defence breaking shot that left Bruno Fernandez to choice but to blast in a shot that was so powerful for Meslier to stop. United went into the break ahead.
Leeds quickly leveled the game early in the second round after Marcelo Bielsa brought in his new signing and Ayling found the net from long range but that goal only forged toughness into Manchester United, who replied in less than two minutes. Paul Pogba open the Leeds defence with a long pass, Greenwood got it and played the ball in from a tight angle.
The Portuguese finisher Fernandes completed his first Hat Trick in Manchester United jersey and Fred also found the net finishing from close range. The win looked a lot similar to their 6-2 loss at Old Trafford last season and as usual, their defensive issues were to blame for the loss.
Manchester United finished the game with a big statement also giving Jadon Sancho his debut and Anthony Martial some minutes of play before the 90 minutes elapsed.
Bruno Fernandes as usual ended the man of the match and Pogba became the first Manchester United player to register four assists in a Premier League match and became the seventh player to do so in Premier League history.
