The Bellator Bantamweight division received the biggest statement from Raufeon Stots, who picked up the biggest win of his professional career with a unanimous decision victory over top contender Magomed Magomedov (18-2 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) in the main card of Bellator 264 on Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The event was aired live on Showtime, following Prelims on MMAJunkie.

Stots (17-1 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) was able to outclass Magomedov and almost finished him before the fight ended and He had to settle for a unanimous decision 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28. Stots with the win announced himself in the title picture which also has his teammate Sergio Pettis sitting as a champion in the division.
Stots announced his intentions early by forcing Magomedov into retreat with his high kicks, Magomedov went in for a takedown and succeeded. However, Stots came out on top and and connected a big right hand before both got back to the center of the cage. Magomedov went for a takedown but ended up pushing Stots to the fence. Stots defended well then broke away afterwards. Stots then scored a takedown and connected strikes in a close range before the bell was heard.
magomedov looked to take Stots to the canvas immediately the second round started but Shots was able to put up a good defense against him firing shots to ease the pressure for the next 90 minutes. However, Magomedov was able to bring him down to the canvas but Stots was fast, maneuvered to the top position and pressed Magomedov to the Cage as they both struggled for position midway through the round. after then Magomedov shot for two more takedowns but wasn’t successful as Stots put up some good defense blocked his spinning elbow before shooting for a late takedown before the round ended.
Stots was able to capitalize on an advantage when the fight was taken to the canvas in the third round and was able to rap Magomedov with a body triangle before attempting a Rare Naked Choke which wasn’t successful as Magomedov was able to hold his hand, stopping him from locking the choke. Magomedov worked his way to side control and Stots tried to make his way back to his feet but that was stopped as Magomedov went in for a submission of his own but couldnt finish Stots before the fight was over.
