Cory Sandhagen takes on the returning former UFC Bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw in the Main event of UFC Vegas 32 which takes place on Saturday night, 24th July at the UFC Apex.
TJ Dillashaw (16-4) will be coming in on the back of a long lay off which was due to his intentional use of banned substances and ahead of his return, there were many Bantamweights ready to welcome their former leader back to the fold. However, Sandhagen gets the honour on Saturday Night.
Sandhagen will be hoping to find his way back to becoming a title contender after failing to achieve the dream of winning a UFC title in his submission loss to current bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. The loss was the first submission loss of his professional career, which also snapped his seven fight winning streak.
Sandhagen has since bounced back from that loss with two stoppage victories, first used a spinning back kick to stop Marlon Moraes then, a flying knee to stop Frankie Edgar four months later.
TJ Dillashaw actually tried cheating his way into becoming a double champion before then he had successfully knocked out Cody Garbrandt in a grudge match that solidified his position as one of the best Bantamweight of the era. Dillashaw then thought, he could make a dangerous cut down to flyweight, He actually did but facing Henry Cejudo at his prime wasn’t a good idea with that cut. He ended up getting knocked out in the first round of their encounter.
Dillashaw has been a cheat which brings his character to question. However, no true MMA fan can question his talent. He possesses on of the best striking game in the UFC and also couples it up with some good movements that will definitely disturb any fighter.
Sandhagen also has good striking and has a good flow using his limbs in combat making his style a little different from what Dillashaw will be bringing to the table. The fight will then be an explosive but tactical battle between the best strikers in the division
