WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has given his prediction for the anticipated Lightweight Trilogy fight between Dustin Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC) and Conor McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC), which will serve as the main event of UFC 264, which takes place this coming weekend at the T-Mobile Arena.
Fury, who is currently preparing for his trilogy fight with former WBC champ Deontay Wilder, took sometime out of his busy schedule to give his take on fight via his twitter handle and why he believes Conor McGregor will come out victorious in the anticipated fight.
“My prediction for the McGregor-Poirier fight is that I think McGregor will win this time,” Fury told UFC’s social team. “I think he’s trained hard, and he’s got it all to prove. It will be a great event and one to watch. Tune in.”
Both Poirier and McGregor, have been able to score knockout wins in their first two meetings. Poirier most recently knocked out Mcgregor on the second round of their UFC 257 main event while, McGregor’s win came six years ago at UFC 178. He knocked Poirier out in the first round.
Fury will engage Wilder in a trilogy fight, with his WBC heavyweight title at stake. The fight happens 14 days after UFC 264 also at the T-Mobile Arena. Unlike the match up between Poirier and McGregor, Fury and Wilder have only been able to come up with a split draw and a knockout victory for Fury back in February 22, 2020.
