The WBC interim Junior Lightweight champion Chris Colbert made clear about his thoughts about Deontay Wilder hiring Malik Scott as his trainer ahead of his trilogy fight with Tyson Fury on July 24th.

Tyson Fury dominated Deontay Wilder in their WBC heavyweight championship rematch back in February 2020, dropping him twice en route to a seventh round stoppage.

Between then and now, Wilder made a shuffle in his team, sacking Mark Breland, who was his Co Trainer and brought in his former foe, Malik Scott in as his head trainer. Wilder knocked out Malik Scott in the first round of their fight back in 2014.

Colbert believes that Wilder made a big mistake in hiring Malik Scott and as far as he sees it, Fury is going to beat Wilder up again.

“Fury is going to beat on him. He can’t f— with Fury. How are you going to learn from somebody you knocked out? I’m trying to figure out what is he [Malik Scott] going to teach him? He [Wilder] said Malik Scott is a boxing genius,” Colbert told Fighthype.com.

“Why is he looking so terrible in his fights? He don’t look good in his fights. If you’re a boxing genius, you have a mindset of what you can do. He won’t have a mindset of what you can do. He went in there with Wilder, and Wilder hit his glove, and he dropped to the ground. Tyson Fury is special. I don’t think anybody f—- with him.

“Whatever [Fury] says, he does it. You’ve got to listen to him. He told you he was going to stop Wilder. He beat his ass.”

Chris Colbert will be defending his WBA Interim junior Lightweight title against Tugstsogh Nyambaya on Sunday night, 4th of July.
