Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has promised to take out YouTube sensation Jake Paul in three rounds when they collide as scheduled on the 28th of August.
Paul has participated in three professional fights, with all ending in wins within the distance. Woodley, who was ones the No.1 ranked UFC welterweight fighter will be making his Boxing Debut in the fight.
Paul in his last outing, knocked out Woodley’s stablemate Ben Askren in the first round and has since been making a lot of notice on social media. This is mostly due to his large number of followers on both YouTube and Instagram.
Woodley predicts a third round stoppage and believes Paul will have to work with some good advice, even he will give himself, if he was fighting Woodley.
“I think [round] three. First round sounds cocky, sounds dope, but I just know that if I’m fighting Tyron Woodley, everyone is going to tell him to cover up, weather the storm, clinch him, grab him, keep him away from you, stay at distance, watch out for the right hand,” Woodley told Michael Bisping.
Woodley expressed surprise, Paul took the fight and believes that there are people in his team boosting his moral by telling him, he could emerge victorious. However, Woodley wants to set a few traps for the less experienced fighter and also says, he may need up to two full rounds to successfully set them then take him out in the third.
“I’ve got to set a couple traps, so I may need a round or two to set some traps, see what he responds to, and I think third round I should be able to clean up the deal. At the end of the day, he’s going to get beat up. He’s going to get knocked out. Hopefully, it’s not too bad because what’s happening is, his people are gassing him up that he can win – he accepted this fight, and I was very surprised he accepted this fight.
“They’re gassing him up, and they’re giving him that, ‘You’ve got the power, he’s old, he ain’t won a fight in a million years, you the younger, more hungry, he’s taking you lightly, you can beat him.’ They’re lying to this kid, and they’re gonna get him f—– up.”
The idea Tyron Woodley will knock out Jake Paul isn’t held by Woodley alone, Jorge Masvidal also believes the fight will not be a long one and believes the former UFC champion will be victorious.
