Devin Haney retained his WBC Lightweight title with a Unanimous decision Victory over Former unified lightweight champion Jorge Linares on Saturday night.

That was expected, as Haney went in a 7-1 favourite to win the fight. However, after dominating the first 9 rounds of the fight, Linares wobbled the champion, who was unable to work perfectly to his corner. That Linares mockingly used his am to guide him back.

The fight was from then on, one-sided till the end as Linares kept looking for a knockout but Haney was clever enough to avoid the dangers with a lot of holding and though a few connected.

Haney (26-0, 15 KOs) successfully defended the WBC 135 pound championship for the third time since blowing off Zaur Abdullaev to win the title at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York to win the title back in 2019.

The Champion survived the biggest test of his professional career with the victory and gave a much more entertaining fight as compared to his previous appearances, which is mostly described by fans as boring. The fans at the Arena weren’t still satisfied with the victory and booed him after Michael Buffer announced he was the winner of the contest.

The 22 year old was totally in control of the fight and looked to be going in the direction of his promise of winning with a knockout till he for wobbled with that combination in the end of the fifth round.
