Liverpool host league Leaders Manchester United on Sunday at the Etihad stadium on Sunday in one of the most crucial games of the season. With only three points separating them both, a win by either side could decide how competitive the Premier League season is going to be in the second phase half of the competition.
The Old Time rivals have been at opposite ends, when it comes to consistency, form and trophies. Liverpool are the Premier League champions and have been performing at a very high level since Jurgen Klopp took over the Club five years ago. The Red Devils were able to top the League for the first time after 17games since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
The game promises to be an interesting one as both teams will be meeting in their conditions of strenght. Manchester United have had a very strong away so domestic record this season while, Liverpool have been unbeaten at Anfield for a very long time. Despite this, Liverpool has also witnessed a dip in form, which has allowed the Red Devils overtake them.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his motivation will catapult the Reds to a win against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United, as his side have been without a win since their 7 – 0 trashing of Newcastle United at St. James pack back on December 19th. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways as their last result was a 1 – 0 loss to Southampton last weekend, which was their second loss in the Premier League this season.
Liverpool are however, one of the most high scoring sides of the Premier League this season and have scored 37 goals and conceded just 21 goals with a 16 goal difference which is six more goals than Manchester United have managed this season. This means they will be going to the top, if they are able to defeat United this weekend
The Red Devils are in the form of their lives winning nine out of eleven games, most recently taking a 1 – 0 victory away from Turf Moor during the week. They have been able to rack up victories in the tightly packed fixtures of the festive season and the their only draw in the period was a 2-2 draw against Leicester City on Boxing day.
Manchester United have won eleven games this season backing it with three draws and three loses to make it to the top of the Premier League . However, they have conceded more goals and scored two goals lesser than their host during the weekend, which has them with a goal difference of 10.
