Burnley 0 – 1 Man Utd : Pogba Fires United Three Points Clear

Paul Pogba Burnley Vs Manchester United

Manchester United go top of the Premier League with three points after taking all three points from Burnley in their visit to Turf Moor on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils will now head into the Anfield clash with second place Liverpool with a three point advantage. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men finished the day top of the League for the first time (after the 18th game of the season), since winning the League in the last season under Sir Alex Ferguson.

United needed 71 minutes of constant pressure before being able to break the deadlock, then did their best to hold off Burnley, who staged a late charge in search of an equaliser.

The first 45 minutes was dominated by VAR and Luke Shaw was fortunate to get a yellow instead of a Red Card after a very bad tackle on Johann Berg Gudmundsson. Manchester United almost took the lead with Harry Maguire’s header but that was ruled out for a foul on Eric Peters.

Manchester United had full dominance in the first 25 minutes of the second half and after peppering their host, Pogba was able to put United ahead with a nice shot from the center of the box, assisted by Marcus Rashford.

United would have ended the game 3 – 1 at full time but Edinson Cavani wasted two good opportunities. Howbeit, 5he scoreline was enough to give the Red Devils a three point lead as they now set their focus on their next outing against champions Liverpool FC on the 17th of January.
