Sebastian Fundura made easy work of Habib Ahmed, stopping him in the second round of their 12 round battle on Errol Spence Jr. vs Danny Garcia undercard on Saturday night which took place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington TX. Live On FOX.
Fundura who owns an outstanding 6’6″ height battered Ahmed throughout the first round and again in the second round, prompting Ahmed’s corner to stop the fight in the second round of the scheduled 12 rounder.
The unbeaten junior middleweight picked up his 16th career victory and his eleventh knockout victory with the win. Ahmed (27-2-1, 18 KOs, 1 NC), who hails from Ghana, lost his second fight as a professional and this loss was his first loss in over nine years.
The 30 year old Ahned, took the fight on three days notice after Fundura’s original opponent Jorge Cota (30-4, 27 KOs) pulled out if the fight after contracting COVID 19 and he quickly replaced Cota because Premier Boxing Champions had him training as a replacement for any of the fighters.
Ahmed was fighting at Junior middleweight for the first time in his professional career, having fought at weight classes above, he had never weighed in below 159½ in his career.
The huge task for any fighter facing Fundura is the fact that you have to find a way behind his unusual reach and that was what Ahmed did but it didn’t go well for the 30 year old Ghanian, who was made to pay, each time he tried.
Fundura’s punches were so powerful on Ahmed that each sent him into the ropes. A big left send Ahmed into the ropes at 1:15 of the opening round but before then had knocked him backwards with a left . Before eventually finishing him off with a barrage of power punches in the second round.
