Paris Saint Germain has reportedly sacked head coach Thomas Tuchel over some controversial comments he made during and Interview.
The 47 year old was heard saying the most challenging part of coaching the French Giants was more about politics than management. He however, went back on his words after his statements got published, saying he enjoys the challenging aspect of the job and that his statements were misunderstood.
It’s just been four months since Tuchel led the PSG to the UEFA Champion League final, ultimately losing to German champions Bayern Munich. PSG finished off their 2020 league campaign with a 4 – 0 win over Strasbourg in the final Ligue 1 game of the year.
The interview was published few hours before the game against Strasbourg. He was quoted saying his tenure at the French club made him fell more like a “A Sports Politician Or Sports Minister Than A Coach”.
The game ultimately ended 4 Nil with the French champions finishing third, just one point below the top spot but that was the end for the German who got dismissed despite trying to clarify his comments after the win.
“I didn’t say it’s more about politics than sport, nor that I lost the fun of training. This is not true… It is possible they translated incorrectly.
“Watch the video interview. I just said that PSG are unique and that it’s a big challenge for me. It’s always been like that.
“I like this challenge and nothing has changed.”
Tuchel has had issues with the former Sporting director Antero Henrique and also the Incumbent one Leonardo. He was totally upset with the Brazilian over the departure of Edinson Cavani, Thomas Meunier and club captain Thiago Silva.
