Manchester United welcome French Giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) to Old Trafford on match day five of the UEFA Champions League group stage as they both look to seal their place in the Knockout stages of the competition.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were able to defeat the PSG in their first group stage meeting this season in France and will be looking to complete a double on them and thereby qualify for the knockout stages as they sit on top the Group H table with nine points.
PSG on the order hand, are in a tighter position sitting second with six points but leading German Side Liepzig on goal difference and will need a win at this point to secure hopes of moving into the Knockout stages of the competition.
Manchester United have been good this season, judging from their performances in European competition, winning three of their four outings and scoring 12 goals and conceding just four in the process. This also includes a 2 -1 victory over PSG. They have been able to score as much as five goals in a game thanks to Wonderful performances by the ever inform Bruno Fernandez.
PSG have won just two games and lost two in the competition and have scored four goals in their four outings so far and conceding four too in those four games, leaving them with a zero goal difference. They will need to find a way in utilising the likes of Neymar Jr. and Mbappe in the final third, if they are to have a chance against the Red Devils later today.
The new Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani will be going up against his former side PSG for the first time since leaving the French side in the summer and will be looking to ones again inspire the Red Devils to another victory after successfully accomplishing that feet against Southampton in the weekend by scoring two goals while helping the team overcome a two goal deficit to win all three points in the domestic fixture.
Manchester United will have as usual, Bruno Fernandez and Marcus Rashford to lead the attack against PSG as they look to secure a ticket to the Knockout stages of the competition. However, they will have to play without their No.1 David de’Gea, who was injured and substituted in their 3 – 2 victory over Southampton during the weekend.
PSG will be hoping to get back to winning ways after settling for a point against Bordeaux during the weekend.
The game will definitely be cagey as both sides will be careful in defensively and either side could end up winners but it’s definitely sure both sides will find the net as the are both conceding sides. The first team to find the net might end up winners of the game. However, Manchester United have developed a recent habit of overturning leads which might end up contradicting my first prediction.
Manchester United will reunite with the likes of Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria when they collide this evening at Old Trafford.
