Six time Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi has heaped praises on his former Boss and present Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique, crediting them for the progress he has made throughout his highly decorated Football career.

The Argentine skipper specifically made clear he was lucky to work under Pep Guardiola during his time at FC Barcelona. Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona were invincible at some point, incredibly winning 14 major trophies between 2008 and 2014.

After the successful and decorated years at Barcelona, Pep Guardiola made a switch to Manchester City, where he has also been able to boost to success. Messi, who was a key player in his Barca squad then was highly linked with a potential move to City during the summer with their reunion being the main reason. However, the deal didn’t go through as the Catalan side held in to their star player.

“He (Guardiola) has something special about him. I don’t know,” Messi told Spanish television channel La Sexta.

“He makes you see things in a certain way in terms of how he prepares for games, both defensively and going forward.

“He could tell you exactly how the match is going and how you have to attack to win.”

With his contract running out at Camp Nou and his future at FC Barcelona uncertain, his reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester was again refueled. The City Boss was then killed off the speculation saying, he will love the 33 year o ld to finish his Career at Camp Nou.

Pep Guardiola Advices Lionel Messi

Messi, who recently surpassed the World Record Breaking 644 goals for the Club has also credited Luis Enrique, who coached the club after Guardiola’s departure, from 2014 – 2017 with improving him as a player.

“I was unlucky enough to be coached by Guardiola and Luis Enrique for such a long time – the two best coaches,” Messi added in an ironic tone.

“Having them so close together made me improve so much in a footballing sense and in terms of tactical awareness.”
