Cruiserweight contender Lawrence Okolie picked up a stunning second round knockout victory over formerly unbeaten late replacement Nikodem Jezewski (19-1-1, 9 KOs) on Anthony Joshua Vs Kubrat Pulev undercard, Saturday night at the SSE Arena in London.
Okolie was initially scheduled to face Krzysztof Glowacki but the later pulled out of the fight after returning a positive COVID 19 Result, paving way for then undefeated Nikodem jezewski, who lasted less than 4 minutes in the ring.
Okolie was clear with his I tent right from the opening bell, his shots were brutal and establishing his dominance early in the round. Okolie scored the first knock down with a bodyshot which sent Jezewski to one knee. Jezewski got rocked again with brutal shot to the temple but was able to retain his feets. Okolie dropped him again with a combination before the close of the first round.
Okolie kept dominating the procedings in the second round as Jezewski couldn’t get himself into the fight. Another right hand sent Jezewski to the canvas for the third and final time. The referee wasted no time in waving off the fight in the second round.
Promoter Eddie Hearn was quick to give his own view of the fight, tipping him to unify the Cruiserweight division before an adventure at Heavyweight and believes that Okolie would have ended Glowacki in the same fashion.
“He would have done the same thing to Glowacki!
“Glowacki, Makabu, Breidis – Okolie will go through the whole cruiserweight division before going to heavyweight!”
