Frank Warren, who Co promotes WBC heavy Champion Tyson Fury, believes that Anthony Joshua will choose to play save against Kubrat Pulev and will be boxing from distance as he did during the Rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr..

Anthony Joshua will be defending his IBO, IBF, WBA, WBO Heavyweight titles later today against his IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London.

Both fighters got involved in a physical tussle that required officials to separate them during the Friday Weigh-in and that has prompted many to expect an action packed fight between the two but Warren doesn’t believe Joshua will like to welcome a brutal battle with the Former title challenger.

Anthony Joshua avoided fighting in close ranges with Ruiz Jr. throughout the 12 rounds of their rematch, boxing at a distance and making a lot of movements. A tactic that helped him wins a loop sided 12 round unanimous decision and claim back the Heavyweight titles in Diriyah Saudi Arabia.

“Anthony Joshua showing vulnerability has made his fights even more interesting. Now even more want to tune to see if he will get his whiskers tested like Andy Ruiz did last year. But I believe we will see a repeat of the performance from him that he delivered against Ruiz in the rematch,” Warren told Daily Mail.

“And I say that as a big fan of Joshua, no matter what the preconception may be about that. He’s a British fighter so, of course, I want him to be successful – just not against Tyson Fury. After getting floored so many times against the Mexican-American in the first fight, Joshua went on the back foot in Saudi Arabia and boxed his way to an easy points win.

“I think we will see a similar performance to that against Kubrat Pulev tonight. Why? Because there is simply too much to lose for him if he suffered a shock second defeat in his career. That is because there is a huge clash with Fury waiting for next year.”

Joshua is hoping to land a two fight unification fight with Tyson Fury by 2021 but despite being the most anticipated match up in the Boxing World, Tyson Fury has made clear, he won’t be attending the event. Fury was expected to attend the event so as to scout the champion and also help in promoting their anticipated all British Mega fight.

Warren believes that Fury’s decision to stay away from the fight is personal decision as he won’t in any way be part of Eddie Hearn’s show. However, he expects Joshua to show he really wants the fight, if he comes out victorious and still doesn’t rule out Pulev, landing a big one on Joshua.

“Fury won’t be ringside tonight at Wembley Arena because he won’t be part of the Eddie Hearn show. This is about the fighters and not the promoters so lets just get the deal done and then do the promotion. We will see if Joshua really wants the fight if he wins tonight. For the fight to happen the two fighters must be happy and all those contracted to both men,” Warren said.

“If the two fighters really want it then terms will get agreed and everyone else will fall in line. It is a heavyweight fight that has to happen. But first, we cannot rule out Pulev throwing a massive spanner in the works. He’s 39, not at the top of his game but he will have in his mind to land his big bombs. He’s been up there in the world rankings for god knows how long. This is his chance so he will give it a good go.”
