Miguel Flores short notice featherweight adventure against Eduardo Ramirez ended sour as the later battered him to a fifth round stoppage victory in their WBA Featherweight WorldbTitle Eliminator on Saturday night on Errol Spence – Danny Garcia undercard, which took place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington TX.
The scheduled 12 rounder ended in the fifth round when Mexico’s Ramirez (24-2-3, 11 KOs, 1 NC) connected a devastating counter right hook, which sent Flores crashing to the canvas. Florez made it to his feet but crumbled again to the cancas, giving referee Laurence Cole no option but to end the fight at exactly 20 seconds into the fifth.
Miguel took the fight on a weeks notice after spending most of his training camp preparing for southpaw Isaac Avelar on the Errol Spence Vs Danny Garcia undercard. He was first scheduled to face Julio Ceja, who contracted COVID 19 a d was pulled out if their scheduled meeting.
Ramirez was the better fighter in the opening round connecting a perfect right hook in about a minute into the round and after some secinds, connected a straight body shot. He connected a left 35 seconds to the end of the round.
Florez looked to be the aggressor in the second round but ran into a big left hand, followed by an uppercut that rocked him and forced him into holding, 40 seconds into the round. However he kept coming forward, still Ramirez was the better fighter and landed the cleaner punches.
Ramirez was very accurate with his hooks, connecting a heavy right hook on Flores, 55 seconds into the third round, backing him up with a couple of straights 20 minutes later.
Flores made Ramirez scared of his right hand in the fourth round, connecting heavily on Ramirez in about a minute to go in the fourth round. Ramirez had however dominated the fight in the first three rounds.
