Aston Villa picked up a rare but we’ll deserved point in their visit to Stanford Bridge at Stanford Bridge on Monday Night, Thanks to Anwar El-Ghazi’s leveler 10 minutes to the Hour Mark which, cancelled out Olivier Giroud’s opener.
Chelsea FC will now end the year with just one win in five games after they looked to be heading towards a victory after Olivier Giroud headed in Ben Chiwel’s cross in the 34th minute.
Giroud, who has been very prolific this season has now scored 10 goals in 10 games and 8in8 for Chelsea FC.
El Ghazi was abled to give the visitors a leveler in the 50th minute, squeezing the ball through the legs of Eduardo Mendy but that was protested by the Chelsea players, who thought the referee should have awarded them a freekick for a foul on Andreas Christensen and a handball from Matt Targett.
After that both teams, gave their best to try leveling the game with McGinn and Jacob Ramsey getting close with a curl for Villa, while Pulisic was denied a one on one chance by Emi Martinez and Chilwell almost hit the the target with a volley.
Aston Villa move up to fifth on the Premier League table with the draw but weren’t able to keep a clean sheet in this one, their first conceded goal in in seven hours and Giroud has been a really clinical against Villa, scoring seven goals in seven consecutive meeting with them.
Chelsea dominated the game after the equaliser as Villa sank deep to preserve their point. They had issues down he right flank as Chilwel always found space for a cross and continued threatening but El-Ghazi’s leveler was enough to secure a point for Villa.
