Chelsea FC staged a great 3 -1 comeback victory over Leeds United at Stanford Bridge on Saturday evening, moving top of the Premier League table thanks to three goals from Giroud, Zouma and Pulisic.
Chelsea saw themselves stunned early by Leeds United at Stanford Bridge as they fell behind four minutes into the game. After overcoming some pressure from the Blues, the Visitors made progress down the flank, Philips picks the ball up and sends the ball through the Chelsea defence to Bamford, who got through on goal, made it past the on-rushing Mendy and fires into the empty net.
Chelsea however got a chance, five minutes later to get the game leveled. Giroud was able to pick out Werner in the far post, which only required a tap but the German failed to convert the opportunity. He had a second chance but his shot turned out horrible.
Both sides had their share off opportunities after that but it’s the Blues, who found the target, thanks to Giroud’s awesome scoring form. The Frenchman was perfect in his timing, drifting in behind the Leeds defence to finish off James cross in the near post. The goal being his sixth consecutive goal in six Premier League starts for Chelsea.
Ziyech picked up an injury in the half hour mark and got replaced by Pulisic. A change that didn’t affect the determination of the Blues but despite the chances created, both teams settled for a 1 – 1 draw in the first half.
The early minutes of the Second Half saw the blues bombard the Leeds defence with dangerous chances in the final third, dominating play but failed to get the ball into the net. Leeds United almost got the better of the Chelsea defence with Rafinha’s shot getting blocked by Silva and the rebound balloned upward and over the net.
Chelsea took the lead, a minute after the hour mark after Zouma used his power on the leads defence, powering a stunning header past the Leads No.1 Meslier. Zouma’s goal was his 4th this season.
Chelsea FC made the goal difference two with a goal from Pulisic in the added time of the game. A stunning counter attack from Chelsea sees Kovacic break free, puts Timo Werner through and the German passes the ball a cross to Pulisic, who easily finishes the ball to make it three for the Blues.
