December 3, 2020
Billy Joe Saunders and Martin Murray both made weight and looked in good shape ahead of the WBO Super Middleweight Championships fight which takes place on Friday at the SSE Arena In London. The fight will be broadcasted Live in SkySports, beginning at 7PM.
The fighters were both comfortably in the limit for their 168 pound title fight with both promising a good show for the fans. Saunders specifically expects a very tough challenge from the four time title challenger.
“We’re both clearly looking ready for the fight,” Saunders told Sky Sports. “Let’s give the fans what they want, a good dust up, a good scrap. Let’s have it.
“A four-time world title challenger, so I expect the best from Martin Murray. It’s going to be a good fight like I say, he’s coming to win, I’m coming to win, so the fight fans tune in.”
Murray, who clearly is the underdog for the fight has vowed to cause a serious upset, when they both share the ring in Friday night. The former four time tie challenger only sees himself becoming a World Champion after failing in his previous attempts against slight fighters like Gennadiy GGG Golovkin and Sergio Martinez.
Murray believes he is the best he has ever been after going through one of the best training camps and according to his opinion, everything is perfect ahead of the fight with he and his team expecting, nothing less than a win.
“No one is expecting it, but me, my team, everyone back home, my family, we all know how hard I’ve worked for this,” Murray told Sky Sports.
“I know it’s my time. I’m ready for it. The best I’ve trained in years, if not the best camp I’ve ever had. I’ve made the weight the best I’ve ever made it and I’m feeling good, ready to go.”
As part of an action promising undercard, James Tennyson and his upcoming opponent Josh O’ Reilly both made weight ahead of their Lightweight WBA Title final Eliminator.
Zack Parker will be hoping to land a Mandatory title shot against Billy Joe Saunders in the nearest future but will have to defeat Cezar Nunez. Both fighters made the Super Middleweight limit at 167 pounds eachfor the fight.
Shannon Courtney will be moving down to Bantamweight as she looks to get back to winning ways since Her first professional loss at Flyweight but will be facing Dorota Norek, who came in at 115.9 pound for the fight on Saturday.
