Manchester City trashed Arsenal 1 – 4 at the Emirates stadium knocking them out of the EFL Cup to forge their way into the Semi Finals of the competition on Wednesday night.
The Citizens needed only three minutes to take the lead at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday night. Arsenal made a run for a second goal but their chances got handled well by the City defence, with the game eventually ending a 1 – 1 draw in the opening half.
City needed 10 minutes in the second half to retake lead with Mahrez’s spectacular free kick. Mahrez sent in a spectacular freekick from the edge of the box, which gets caught and spilled into the net by the Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Runarsson.
Arsenal then found themselves a big mountain to climb after Foden added salt to their injury with a swift but great finish. Fernandinho played Phil Foden through on goal begin the Arsenal defence and the youngster makes an easy but spectacular finish to make the game comfortable for the visitors.
Manchester City eventually ran away with the lead, making it impossible for the Gunners to get back in the 73rd minute. Arsenal looked to set a defensive trap for City, but things didn’t go well as Foden recieves the ball from a short played corner, then finds Laporte’s with a sweet cross to make their goal tally four.
