UFC On ESPN+ 41 – Paul Felder Replaces Makhachev Fights Dos Anjos

Paul Felder Lightweight Fighter

Paul Felder has stepped in as late replacement for Islam Makhachev and will be facing Rafael Dos Anjos in the new UFC On ESPN+ 41 (UFC Fight Night 182) main event this coming weekend.

Felder is ready to take on dos Anjos having just five days notice. The booking was done after Makhachev got ruled out due to a Staph infection. The lightweight battle will serve as the headlining bout of the ESPN televised card on Saturday.

The News which was first reported by the Promotions broadcast partner ESPN on Monday was verified with a person close to the situation before being published on Dopeclics. The UFC also confirmed the booking on Social Media before Fielding dropped his on his timeline.

Felder, nicknamed “The Irish Dragon” has not competed in the UFC since losing to Dan Hooker in February and has openly spoken about his contemplation about leaving the sport. He has taken up a few commentary roles for the UFC and was available for the fight, when he was given the call.

Dos Anjos looks to make a big return to the lightweight division, where he hasn’t competed in since his loss to Tony Ferguson back in 2015. The former UFC champion after that loss went on a 3-0 streak in the welterweight division but has since lost four of his last five outings, defeating only Kelvin Lee in those five.

The fight card goes on with just the change in the main event. This is how the new card looks ahead of UFC Vegas 14.
