Islam Makhachev will not be featuring in the Main Event of UFC fight Night 183 (UFC On ESPN+ 41 or UFC Vegas 14) against Rafael Dos Anjos as he has been forced out due to an injury.

According to reports from the UFC Broadcast partners ESPN, Makhachev has been ruled out due to an “undisclosed” and will leave Dos Anjos in search for an opponent for the event, which takes place on the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+.

With Makhachev’s (18-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) out, the promotion is out looking for an opponent for dos Anjos (30-13 MMA, 18-11 UFC) and anyone ready to replace Makhachev will be doing that on six days notice.

dos Anjos will be making his first return to his original weight class since dumping it for an adventure at welterweight six years ago. He was able to accumulate a 3-0 record in his first three fights at the weight class but has since lost eighty percent of his last five fights, with his only win in those coming against Kevin Lee.

Both fighters will now see the match up cancelled ones again as they were first scheduled for a meeting back in October at UFC 254 but Makhachev got Corona Virus and the fight got postponed.

Dos Anjos felt it light, his opponent had ones again pulled out of their match up. He made a post on Instagram wishing him a speedy recovery and also called out former Bellator champion Micheal Chandler to step in as a replacement.

The UFC fight Night 182 main Event is now without an opponent and the here is how the fight card looks like after the withdrawal.

Islam Makhachev has been forced out of the biggest fight of his career, and now the UFC needs a new main event on Saturday.

According to ESPN, Makhachev has been forced to withdraw from his lightweight headliner vs. Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 182, which takes place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+.

The report cited an “undisclosed injury” as the reason behind Makhachev’s (18-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) removal from the card. His team did not immediately respond to MMA Junkie’s request for confirmation.

The promotion is currently seeking a new opponent for dos Anjos (30-13 MMA, 18-11 UFC) on just six days’ notice.

Dos Anjos is meant to return to lightweight for the first time since a November 2016 loss to Tony Ferguson. The Brazilian started out his welterweight tenure at 3-0, but has since dropped four of his past five, with his lone win coming over Kevin Lee. If he can find a new opponent, dos Anjos will return to his original weight class, where he hasn’t won since December 2015.

The matchup between dos Anjos and Makhachev has now been called off twice. The pair were originally scheduled to meet at UFC 254 in October, but dos Anjos tested positive for COVID-19 and was unable to compete.

The latest UFC Fight Night 182 lineup now includes:
