UFC 255 Video Highlights : Deiveson Figueiredo Vs Alex Perez

The UFC Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo retained his flyweight crown with a first round submission over Alex Perez in the main event of UFC 255 on Saturday night at UFC Apex.

Figueiredo finished off Joseph Benavidez to win the flyweight title earlier this year and yesterday in his first defense, showed his reign was no joke by making little work of Alex Perez as he promised in the Build up.

Both fighters started out making furious exchanges in the opening round. Alex Perez didn’t come to joke but his decision to take the fight to the canvas eventually came back to hunt him. He scored the take down but wasn’t as fast as the champion, who quickly switched into his hunting for a submission.

Figueiredo first went in for a leg lock but after that failed attempt saw a Guillotine choke fall into his hands in a platter of gold and he immediately took it, irrespective of the resistance fr the challeher, he just kept applying pressure till Perez tapped out.

The win was his first since becoming Champion and his fifth straight victory. The Bantamweight division is gradually getting clouded with contenders and Figueiredo has sent a statement with the win. He was initially suppose to face former Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt in the UFC 255 headliner but the later pulled out due to injury.
