UFC 255 Results : Deiveson Figueiredo Submits Alex Perez In First Round, Retains Flyweight Title

UFC Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo successful defended his title for the first time with a first round submission over Alex Perez in the Main event of UFC 255 on Saturday night at the Apex Center.
Figueiredo, nicknamed the “God Of War” won his fifth straight figgt, made his first stamp as the flyweight champion with a quick submission, ending Perez with a nasty guillotine choke at exactly 1:57 of the first round of the scheduled five round bout.
“I promised my master I was going to do this,” Figueiredo said about his submission win. “I trained for that and that’s exactly what happened.”
Both fighters came out firing in the opening round and Figueiredo was surprisingly willing to engage in the exchanges with Perez, prior to the Guillotine submission. Perez was looking to use his kicks on the champion. However, none gained the advantage in those early exchanges.

Perez decided to change the tone of the fight by taking it to the ground and Figueiredo was quick to move out of position and went straight hunting for a submission. The End of the fight came after his leg lock attempt, he quickly switched to a Guillotine submission as it fell straight into his arms.
Figueiredo, applied more pressure despite the all efforts from Perez to break free from choke. He eventually gave into the pressure and tapped out. The win now see him retain the title, remaining the king of the flyweight division.
Earlier this year, Figueiredo defeated Joseph Benavidez to claim the then Vacant UFC Flyweight title. For Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt was initially scheduled to face Figueiredo at UFC 255 main event but was ruled out due to injury.
